Britanniahütte takes bookings through the Alpine clubs' official booking system. It offers a waiting list: you leave a booking request for one date with your card details, and the hut emails you if a bed frees up. That email is sent by the hut itself, not automatically — and the freed bed goes back into the public availability at the same time, where whoever sees it first can book it. A place on the waiting list is not a guaranteed bed.
